Dying And Living With Christ, Colossians 3.1.25

  1. If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God.

  2. Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth.

  3. For ye are dead, and your life is hid with Christ in God.

  4. When Christ, who is our life, shall appear, then shall ye also appear with him in glory.

  5. Mortify therefore your members which are upon the earth; fornication, uncleanness, inordinate affection, evil concupiscence, and covetousness, which is idolatry:

  6. For which things’ sake the wrath of God cometh on the children of disobedience:

  7. In the which ye also walked some time, when ye lived in them.

  8. But now ye also put off all these; anger, wrath, malice, blasphemy, filthy communication out of your mouth.

  9. Lie not one to another, seeing that ye have put off the old man with his deeds;

  10. And have put on the new man, which is renewed in knowledge after the image of him that created him:

  11. Where there is neither Greek nor Jew, circumcision nor uncircumcision, Barbarian, Scythian, bond nor free: but Christ is all, and in all.

  12. Put on therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, bowels of mercies, kindness, humbleness of mind, meekness, longsuffering;

  13. Forbearing one another, and forgiving one another, if any man have a quarrel against any: even as Christ forgave you, so also do ye.

  14. And above all these things put on charity, which is the bond of perfectness.

  15. And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to the which also ye are called in one body; and be ye thankful.

  16. Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord.

  17. And whatsoever ye do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father by him.

  18. Wives, submit yourselves unto your own husbands, as it is fit in the Lord.

  19. Husbands, love your wives, and be not bitter against them.

  20. Children, obey your parents in all things: for this is well pleasing unto the Lord.

  21. Fathers, provoke not your children to anger, lest they be discouraged.

  22. Servants, obey in all things your masters according to the flesh; not with eyeservice, as menpleasers; but in singleness of heart, fearing God;

  23. And whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men;

  24. Knowing that of the Lord ye shall receive the reward of the inheritance: for ye serve the Lord Christ.

  25. But He that doeth wrong shall receive for the wrong which He hath done: and there is no respect of persons.

Jesus Teaches About Divorce, Matthew 19:1-30

image

  1. And it came to pass, that when Jesus had finished these sayings, He departed from Galilee, and came into the coasts of Judaea beyond Jordan;

  2. And great multitudes followed him; and He healed them there.

  3. The Pharisees also came unto him, tempting him, and saying unto him, Is it lawful for a man to put away his wife for every cause?

  4. And He answered and said unto them, Have ye not read, that He which made them at the beginning made them male and female,

  5. And said, For this cause shall a man leave father and mother, and shall cleave to his wife: and they twain shall be one flesh?

  6. Wherefore they are no more twain, but one flesh. What therefore God hath joined together, let not man put asunder.

  7. They say unto him, Why did Moses then command to give a writing of divorcement, and to put her away?

  8. He saith unto them, Moses because of the hardness of your hearts suffered you to put away your wives: but from the beginning it was not so.

  9. And I say unto you, Whosoever shall put away his wife, except it be for fornication, and shall marry another, committeth adultery: and whoso marrieth her which is put away doth commit adultery.

  10. His disciples say unto him, If the case of the man be so with his wife, it is not good to marry.

11.But He said unto them, All men cannot receive this saying, save they to whom it is given.

  1. For there are some eunuchs, which were so born from their mother’s womb: and there are some eunuchs, which were made eunuchs of men: and there be eunuchs, which have made themselves eunuchs for the kingdom of heaven’s sake. He that is able to receive it, let him receive it.

  2. Then were there brought unto him little children, that He should put his hands on them, and pray: and the disciples rebuked them.

  3. But Jesus said, Suffer little children, and forbid them not, to come unto me: for of such is the kingdom of heaven.

  4. And He laid his hands on them, and departed thence.

  5. And, behold, one came and said unto him, Good Master, what good thing shall I do, that I may have eternal life?

  6. And He said unto him, Why callest thou me good? there is none good but one, that is, God: but if thou wilt enter into life, keep the commandments.

  7. He saith unto him, Which? Jesus said, Thou shalt do no murder, Thou shalt not commit adultery, Thou shalt not steal, Thou shalt not bear false witness,

  8. Honour thy father and thy mother: and, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.

  9. The young man saith unto him, All these things have I kept from my youth up: what lack I yet?

  10. Jesus said unto him, If thou wilt be perfect, go and sell that thou hast, and give to the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come and follow me.

  11. But when the young man heard that saying, He went away sorrowful: for He had great possessions.

  12. Then said Jesus unto his disciples, Verily I say unto you, That a rich man shall hardly enter into the kingdom of heaven.

  13. And again I say unto you, It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle, than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God.

  14. When his disciples heard it, they were exceedingly amazed, saying, Who then can be saved?

  15. But Jesus beheld them, and said unto them, With men this is impossible; but with God all things are possible.

  16. Then answered Peter and said unto him, Behold, we have forsaken all, and followed thee; what shall we have therefore?

  17. And Jesus said unto them, Verily I say unto you, That ye which have followed me, in the regeneration when the Son of man shall sit in the throne of his glory, ye also shall sit upon twelve thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel.

  18. And every one that hath forsaken houses, or brethren, or sisters, or father, or mother, or wife, or children, or lands, for my name’s sake, shall receive an hundredfold, and shall inherit everlasting life.

  19. But many that are first shall be last; and the last shall be first.

Teaching About Charity, Matthew 6: 1-34

  1. Take heed that ye do not your alms before men, to be seen of them: otherwise ye have no reward of your Father which is in heaven.

  2. Therefore when thou doest thine alms, do not sound a trumpet before thee, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the streets, that they may have glory of men. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward.

  3. But when thou doest alms, let not thy left hand know what thy right hand doeth:

  4. That thine alms may be in secret: and thy Father which seeth in secret himself shall reward thee openly.

  5. And when thou prayest, thou shalt not be as the hypocrites are: for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and in the corners of the streets, that they may be seen of men. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward.

  6. But thou, when thou prayest, enter into thy closet, and when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father which is in secret; and thy Father which seeth in secret shall reward thee openly.

  7. But when ye pray, use not vain repetitions, as the heathen do: for they think that they shall be heard for their much speaking.

  8. Be not ye therefore like unto them: for your Father knoweth what things ye have need of, before ye ask him.

  9. After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name.

  10. Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven.

  11. Give us this day our daily bread.

  12. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors.

  13. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.

  14. For if ye forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you:

  15. But if ye forgive not men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.

  16. Moreover when ye fast, be not, as the hypocrites, of a sad countenance: for they disfigure their faces, that they may appear unto men to fast. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward.

  17. But thou, when thou fastest, anoint thine head, and wash thy face;

18 . That thou appear not unto men to fast, but unto thy Father which is in secret: and thy Father, which seeth in secret, shall reward thee openly.

  1. Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal:

  2. But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal:

  3. For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.

  4. The light of the body is the eye: if therefore thine eye be single, thy whole body shall be full of light.

  5. But if thine eye be evil, thy whole body shall be full of darkness. If therefore the light that is in thee be darkness, how great is that darkness!

  6. No man can serve two masters: for either He will hate the one, and love the other; or else He will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon.

  7. Therefore I say unto you, Take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink; nor yet for your body, what ye shall put on. Is not the life more than meat, and the body than raiment?

  8. Behold the fowls of the air: for they sow not, neither do they reap, nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feedeth them. Are ye not much better than they?

  9. Which of you by taking thought can add one cubit unto his stature?

  10. And why take ye thought for raiment? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow; they toil not, neither do they spin:

  11. And yet I say unto you, That even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these.

  12. Wherefore, if God so clothe the grass of the field, which to day is, and to morrow is cast into the oven, shall He not much more clothe you, O ye of little faith?

  13. Therefore take no thought, saying, What shall we eat? or, What shall we drink? or, Wherewithal shall we be clothed?

  14. (For after all these things do the Gentiles seek:) for your heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need of all these things.

  15. But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.

  16. Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof.

A Warning Against Hypocrisy, Luke 12 :1 – 59

  1. In the mean time, when there were gathered together an innumerable multitude of people, insomuch that they trode one upon another, He began to say unto his disciples first of all, Beware ye of the leaven of the Pharisees, which is hypocrisy.
  2. For there is nothing covered, that shall not be revealed; neither hid, that shall not be known.

  3. Therefore whatsoever ye have spoken in darkness shall be heard in the light; and that which ye have spoken in the ear in closets shall be proclaimed upon the housetops.

  4. And I say unto you my friends, Be not afraid of them that kill the body, and after that have no more that they can do.

  5. But I will forewarn you whom ye shall fear: Fear him, which after He hath killed hath power to cast into hell; yea, I say unto you, Fear him.

  6. Are not five sparrows sold for two farthings, and not one of them is forgotten before God?

  7. But even the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Fear not therefore: ye are of more value than many sparrows.

  8. Also I say unto you, Whosoever shall confess me before men, him shall the Son of man also confess before the angels of God:

  9. But He that denieth me before men shall be denied before the angels of God.

  10. And whosoever shall speak a word against the Son of man, it shall be forgiven him: but unto him that blasphemeth against the Holy Ghost it shall not be forgiven.

  11. And when they bring you unto the synagogues, and unto magistrates, and powers, take ye no thought how or what thing ye shall answer, or what ye shall say:

  12. For the Holy Ghost shall teach you in the same hour what ye ought to say.

  13. And one of the company said unto him, Master, speak to my brother, that He divide the inheritance with me.

  14. And He said unto him, Man, who made me a judge or a divider over you?

  15. And He said unto them, Take heed, and beware of covetousness: for a man’s life consisteth not in the abundance of the things which He possesseth.

  16. And He spake a parable unto them, saying, The ground of a certain rich man brought forth plentifully:

  17. And He thought within himself, saying, What shall I do, because I have no room where to bestow my fruits?

  18. And He said, This will I do: I will pull down my barns, and build greater; and there will I bestow all my fruits and my goods.

  19. And I will say to my soul, Soul, thou hast much goods laid up for many years; take thine ease, eat, drink, and be merry.

  20. But God said unto him, Thou fool, this night thy soul shall be required of thee: then whose shall those things be, which thou hast provided?

  21. So is He that layeth up treasure for himself, and is not rich toward God.

  22. And He said unto his disciples, Therefore I say unto you, Take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat; neither for the body, what ye shall put on.

  23. The life is more than meat, and the body is more than raiment.

  24. Consider the ravens: for they neither sow nor reap; which neither have storehouse nor barn; and God feedeth them: how much more are ye better than the fowls?

  25. And which of you with taking thought can add to his stature one cubit?

  26. If ye then be not able to do that thing which is least, why take ye thought for the rest?

  27. Consider the lilies how they grow: they toil not, they spin not; and yet I say unto you, that Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these.

  28. If then God so clothe the grass, which is to day in the field, and to morrow is cast into the oven; how much more will He clothe you, O ye of little faith?

  29. And seek not ye what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink, neither be ye of doubtful mind.

  30. For all these things do the nations of the world seek after: and your Father knoweth that ye have need of these things.

  31. But rather seek ye the kingdom of God; and all these things shall be added unto you.

  32. Fear not, little flock; for it is your Father’s good pleasure to give you the kingdom.

  33. Sell that ye have, and give alms; provide yourselves bags which wax not old, a treasure in the heavens that faileth not, where no thief approacheth, neither moth corrupteth.

  34. For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.

  35. Let your loins be girded about, and your lights burning;

  36. And ye yourselves like unto men that wait for their lord, when He will return from the wedding; that when He cometh and knocketh, they may open unto him immediately.

  37. Blessed are those servants, whom the lord when He cometh shall find watching: verily I say unto you, that He shall gird himself, and make them to sit down to meat, and will come forth and serve them.

  38. And if He shall come in the second watch, or come in the third watch, and find them so, blessed are those servants.

  39. And this know, that if the goodman of the house had known what hour the thief would come, He would have watched, and not have suffered his house to be broken through.

  40. Be ye therefore ready also: for the Son of man cometh at an hour when ye think not.

  41. Then Peter said unto him, Lord, speakest thou this parable unto us, or even to all?

  42. And the Lord said, Who then is that faithful and wise steward, whom his lord shall make ruler over his household, to give them their portion of meat in due season?

  43. Blessed is that servant, whom his lord when He cometh shall find so doing.

  44. Of a truth I say unto you, that He will make him ruler over all that He hath.

  45. But and if that servant say in his heart, My lord delayeth his coming; and shall begin to beat the menservants and maidens, and to eat and drink, and to be drunken;

  46. The lord of that servant will come in a day when He looketh not for him, and at an hour when He is not aware, and will cut him in sunder, and will appoint him his portion with the unbelievers.

  47. And that servant, which knew his lord’s will, and prepared not himself, neither did according to his will, shall be beaten with many stripes.

  48. But He that knew not, and did commit things worthy of stripes, shall be beaten with few stripes. For unto whomsoever much is given, of him shall be much required: and to whom men have committed much, of him they will ask the more.

  49. I am come to send fire on the earth; and what will I, if it be already kindled?

  50. But I have a baptism to be baptized with; and how am I straitened till it be accomplished!

  51. Suppose ye that I am come to give peace on earth? I tell you, Nay; but rather division:

  52. For from henceforth there shall be five in one house divided, three against two, and two against three.

  53. The father shall be divided against the son, and the son against the father; the mother against the daughter, and the daughter against the mother; the mother in law against her daughter in law, and the daughter in law against her mother in law.

  54. And He said also to the people, When ye see a cloud rise out of the west, straightway ye say, There cometh a shower; and so it is.

  55. And when ye see the south wind blow, ye say, There will be heat; and it cometh to pass.

  56. Ye hypocrites, ye can discern the face of the sky and of the earth; but how is it that ye do not discern this time?

  57. Yea, and why even of yourselves judge ye not what is right?

  58. When thou goest with thine adversary to the magistrate, as thou art in the way, give diligence that thou mayest be delivered from him; lest He hale thee to the judge, and the judge deliver thee to the officer, and the officer cast thee into prison.

  59. I tell thee, thou shalt not depart thence, till thou hast paid the very last mite.

Servants Of The Most High God, 1 Corinthians 3 : 1- 23

  1. And I, brethren, could not speak unto you as unto spiritual, but as unto carnal, even as unto babes in Christ.

  2. I have fed you with milk, and not with meat: for hitherto ye were not able to bear it, neither yet now are ye able.

  3. For ye are yet carnal: for whereas there is among you envying, and strife, and divisions, are ye not carnal, and walk as men?

  4. For while one saith, I am of Paul; and another, I am of Apollos; are ye not carnal?

  5. Who then is Paul, and who is Apollos, but ministers by whom ye believed, even as the Lord gave to every man?

  6. I have planted, Apollos watered; but God gave the increase.

  7. So then neither is He that planteth any thing, neither He that watereth; but God that giveth the increase.

  8. Now He that planteth and He that watereth are one: and every man shall receive his own reward according to his own labour.

  9. For we are labourers together with God: ye are God’s husbandry, ye are God’s building.

  10. According to the grace of God which is given unto me, as a wise masterbuilder, I have laid the foundation, and another buildeth thereon. But let every man take heed how He buildeth thereupon.

  11. For other foundation can no man lay than that is laid, which is Jesus Christ.

  12. Now if any man build upon this foundation gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, stubble;

  13. Every man’s work shall be made manifest: for the day shall declare it, because it shall be revealed by fire; and the fire shall try every man’s work of what sort it is.

  14. If any man’s work abide which He hath built thereupon, He shall receive a reward.

  15. If any man’s work shall be burned, He shall suffer loss: but He himself shall be saved; yet so as by fire.

  16. Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you?

  17. If any man defile the temple of God, him shall God destroy; for the temple of God is holy, which temple ye are.

  18. Let no man deceive himself. If any man among you seemeth to be wise in this world, let him become a fool, that He may be wise.

  19. For the wisdom of this world is foolishness with God. For it is written, He taketh the wise in their own craftiness.

  20. And again, The Lord knoweth the thoughts of the wise, that they are vain.

  21. Therefore let no man glory in men. For all things are your’s;

  22. Whether Paul, or Apollos, or Cephas, or the world, or life, or death, or things present, or things to come; all are your’s;

  23. And ye are Christ’s; and Christ is God’s.
